Dr. Shimeles received a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Maryland at College Park, Maryland. Prior to pursuing his DDS and orthodontic certification, he worked for Dupont Chemicals in Wilmington, Delaware, where he designed and performed experiments, wrote standard test procedures, and analyzed testing equipment and data. He found his time at DuPont a challenging and rewarding learning experience.

Dr. Shimeles is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) and the American Dental Association (ADA) and is eligible for board certification by the American Board of Orthodontics (ABO). He is also Invisalign certified. Other associations include the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honorary Dental Society-Maryland Chapter and the National Dental Association. Dr. Shirneles is married to Keziah, a respiratory therapist, and they have one daughter. He and his family currently reside in Bowie, Maryland. In his free time, Dr. Shimeles enjoys bike riding, playing soccer, and digital photography. Above all, though, he enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter.
