Meet The Doctors

Dr. Jafari has been providing exceptional dental care since 1999. She has lived in the Annapolis area since 1996. Dr. Jafari graduated from University of Maryland in 1992 and earned her dental degree from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. After finishing her dental training, she completed a General Practice Residency at Howard College of Dentistry. She is a member of American Dental Association, Maryland State Dental Association, the APD and the Eastern Shore Dental Society.

Dr. Jafari has practiced general/family dentistry, including restorative dentistry, cosmetic dentistry and pediatric dentistry. She has a special interest in treating children, adolescents and youth, and has five years of experience in pediatric dentistry. To stay up to date with the latest advancements in dentistry, she completes many hours of continuing education each year.

Dr. Jafari has the special gift of connecting and listening to her patients. Dr. Jafari’s attention to detail is vividly displayed in her office’s warm and comfortable setting. She encourages open communication so that each patient’s questions and concerns are addressed thoroughly.

In giving back to the community, Dr. Jafari provides help and food to Light House, a homeless shelter in Annapolis. She loves spending time and entertaining friends and family in her home with her husband and two sons. Her hobbies include outdoor activities, water sports and traveling.

Dr. Shimeles (Orthodontist) completed his Certificate of Orthodontics and residency at Howard College of Dentistry. He earned a Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Shimeles received a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Maryland at College Park, Maryland. Prior to pursuing his DDS and orthodontic certification, he worked for Dupont Chemicals in Wilmington, Delaware, where he designed and performed experiments, wrote standard test procedures, and analyzed testing equipment and data. He found his time at DuPont a challenging and rewarding learning experience.

Dr. Shimeles is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) and the American Dental Association (ADA), and is eligible for board certification by the American Board of Orthodontics (ABO). He is also Invisalign certified. Other associations include the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honorary Dental Society-Maryland Chapter and the National Dental Association. In 2008, he was named Dental Student of the Year and profiled in Maryland Magazine. Other honors include a National Academy of Science Scholarship and the Harry E. Kelsey Award from University of Maryland, Department of Orthodontics, which is given to individuals recognized to possess personal qualities, such as patience and kindness, of the highest professional character.
